My Students
My music students are creative and enthusiastic! They absolutely love performing and creating music! They come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow musically, personally and academically. They are an inspiration!
Many of my students come to class and tell me they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of lack of supplies and resources.
Our school is nestled in the heart of central oklahoma, which was once a bustling population center and commercial hub. Like many other American cities, population declined in the 1970s and 1980s as families followed newly constructed highways to move to newer housing in nearby suburbs. Now, with opportunities fading, our families often struggle to find employment and opportunity.
Students in each of my classes love to learn, although the tools and materials they need vary greatly. We try to provide the best materials we can afford, but often fall short. They are incredible and talented young people, and I believe they deserve the best we can provide for them.
My Project
Our school doesn't have the resources to provide each of our music students the musical accessories they need for virtual learning.
This project will enable my students to participate from home.
We are sending school instruments home with students so they can lean virtually. They will need accessories like reeds in order play at home. The percussionist will now have their own drumsticks that are not used and have been shared by others. Without these accessories, students would not be able to fully participate while learning in this virtual environment.
