My students have big dreams. Most of them want to be doctors, nurses, surgeons, and therapists. My role is to help them achieve success in their very first college classes while they are still in high school.
Our high school is truly the best in the land!
However, the students at CHS have the lowest average socioeconomic status of the ten high schools in our district, and our ethnic diversity is the richest. Adding all of this up means that there is often a large gap between my students' dreams and their current academic abilities as juniors and seniors in high school.
I help my students bridge this gap by using the very best practices and tools available within my budget to enable them to learn more than they think is possible and build their confidence.
My Project
The life-size arm muscle model will help students in Medical Anatomy & Physiology and Sports Medicine classes to see and learn difficult-to-see muscles like the subscapularis in the rotator cuff and the pronator teres and pronator quadratus in the forearm.
The model will also enable students to visualize the origins and insertions of all of the arm and shoulder muscles, helping them to fully understand the complex movements performed by each muscle.
Because the musculature of the shoulder, arm, and hand are so essential to the precise movements that have enabled humans to make thoughts and ideas a reality, manifesting creativity in art, engineering, construction, sports, science, writing, and technology, it is essential that students master the anatomy and physiology of these regions. This model will help my students at Clearfield High School to achieve such mastery.
