My Students
My special needs students view each day as an opportunity to learn and explore the world around them. They develop their minds with new skills every day. My incredible students are filled to the brim with energy and enthusiasm for learning.
Our school is Title I and located in a low socioeconomic community with limited resources.
All of my students receive free school lunch and are classified as English language learners. As part of a special day program, my students must be exposed to grade level standards. As a result, my students must be organized and able to quickly access materials for the appropriate skills set and activities of the day.
Students in my classroom are students with special needs like Autism, Spina Bifida, Dyslexia, and several other disabilities.
My Project
Multiplication is hard for many students, and it is a skill you just can't do without in math. Every year, special needs students come to school ready to learn, but have the hardest time memorizing and understanding multiplication facts and skills they learn in 3rd grade. Later, they struggle because they have not memorized their multiplication facts, and it slows them down as they solve math problems. This is why I am asking for 16 sets of multiplication flash cards that my students can share with their partner as they practice their multiplication facts every day. These cards would be used in fun ways, so my students would enjoy memorizing more of the multiplication facts necessary for solving expressions, word problems, and even division problems. They would be accessible to all, and would give them the opportunity to practice when they have extra time during math.
I want to give my students the things they need to help them become successful learners in math.
Having simple items such as flash cards and games are essential to their growth in mathematics. Both items will give them the opportunity to practice needed skills and become confident math students!
