Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our Title I school is found in a culturally diverse, urban neighborhood in Brooklyn, Sunset Park. The anticipated students will be in our school’s very first dual language kindergarten classroom. There will be approximately 25 students enrolled in the classroom.
Our school will serve children from all cultures, walks of life, whom most come from a low-socioeconomic income household; students who are looking for the opportunity to learn and thrive within the district.
Because the school is new, funding for special teaching materials such as a royal reading/writing teaching cart like the one being funded.
My Project
The ever-growing rate of young children developing their English language proficiency skills can be attributed to skills learned through research-based strategies. Young children take these skills and use them in their everyday life. A huge part of their life takes place in a classroom. It is their home away from home. It is because of this notion that the environment educators provide helps foster this developmental growth for early childhood-aged students.
Intentionally chosen material for the classroom environment will help build and foster language acquisition for the young multilingual learners in our kindergarten class.
These materials would add to our new dual language literacy center, dramatic/theater area, and art center. By donating to our project, you will not only help young English language learners in a Title I school, but it will help to improve and increase student motivation, social engagement, and language acquisition. This will intentionally aide to increase their academic achievement.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
