Our school is a Title I urban academy servicing approximately 700 K-8 inner-urban students. Many of our students have missed some of the fundamentals of learning to read, which affects their overall academic success. We aim to close the gap for them by working in one-on-one or in small intervention groups, focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, reading comprehension, writing skills, and more.
This project includes many fun, multi-sensory materials, such as molding sand in three different colors to use in our science of reading program.
It also includes blending activities and games that will help students develop phonics skills. Students at all grade levels will look forward to their reading time by including these activities.
