Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Kindergarten is an exciting year full of learning and play, and my students love to learn! My students are all mastering new skills and meeting milestones in two languages! My classroom is a Spanish Biliteracy classroom and these students have two language super powers. At this point in the year, some students are still working on mastering their letter names and sounds, some are blending words, and still others are reading more complex texts.
Students learn in so many different ways and need access to multi-sensory materials and manipulatives to bring their learning to life.
Tactile letters and numbers, kinetic sand, textured boards, stamps, etc., are all materials that can give students multiple exposures and access points to learning.
Centers allow students to have differentiated learning time using a variety of different materials to help all students deepen learning at their own levels. Centers need to stay fresh and relevant so that students stay engaged and have access to materials at their levels. These supplies and organizational materials will help keep centers an exciting part of our learning day.
