My Students

My school's goal is "To foster an environment in which all students will have opportunities to reach their academic and social potential." The students, teachers, staff and families in my community work tirelessly to achieve this aspiration. Even though my school is in a high poverty area with 85% of my students considered to be low income, we want to make sure all of our students have the experiences and tools necessary for success. Many of my students are unable to afford necessary school supplies and having the option of DonorsChoose grant is a great resource.

My Project

With 80% of my students considered to be low income, it is sometimes challenging for them to have the basic supplies needed in the classroom. Something as simple as pencils and paper is sometimes hard to find.

I love to teach using project based learning and having folders and filler paper is a great way to teach students organization and how to manage multi-step assignments.

The variety of colors allows my sixth graders to keep their subjects well organized. I included dry erase markers in this project because the students enjoy using multiple ways of learning. Just mixing up the way we take notes or learn is a great way to keep the students engaged.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
