Ms. U's Pirate Literary Cafe (En mi clase de espanol)

My students need authentic literature in the target language to increase their proficiency. In addition, our 'Pirate Cafe' they will need post-its and writing utensils for the 'sticky note' analysis instructional strategy used in our class.

My Students

As a proud alumna of this flagship school in our community, I know first hand the legacy of academic excellence and athletic ability. A large urban high school, my students come from every walk of life. They are diverse in interests, ethnicity, socioeconomic background and religion.

My students are driven to achieve academic success in my classroom and beyond.

I hope to obtain the literary resources to provide them with the best second language course to met that objective. Go Pirates!

My Project

To foster functionality in the target language my students learn to read short stories and leveled readers in Spanish. 'Ana, estudiante' and 'Muerte en Buenos Aires' are novice readers, while 'Crimen en Barcelona' and 'La última cena' are for more advanced students. The 'Alma Flor Ada Stories to Celebrate' series present the culture of Spanish speakers by exploring specific holidays.

The short stories selected will promote multiculturalism and bilingualism and assist my students to read and write proficiently in Spanish.

In addition to the specific readers, I selected the materials to help students while reading. The post-it notes and tabs are used in the 'sticky note analysis' and the writing utensils will ensure every student can participate.
