Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are lovable dreamers that don't always have the resources they need to be successful. I'd like to be able to give my kids what they need to continue a successful school career.
Do you remember the feeling you had at the start of the new school year when you got your new school supplies?
That's the feeling my students have when they have supplies available to them in our classroom.
Thats what I'd like to do for these children.
My Project
By the time November comes around, most of the children DO NOT have a pencil left from whatever supplies they may have gotten at the beginning of the school year.
Furthermore, many of the students didn't get any supplies at the start of the school year, so pencils become an extremely valuable item to these children.
We also use other writing tools, such as dry erase markers to add another fun element to the writing process. Students are also thankful for the little things, such as colored pencils, new crayons, scissors, construction paper and something to keep their work area clean.
Finally, having a name tag with educational themes, makes their personal space much more comfortable, allowing them a greater opportunity to succeed in school.
