Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 11th and 12th graders. They are hardworking and curious kids who deserve to have exciting opportunities to learn outside their traditional canon. They are excited to be back in the classroom after two years of hybrid and are ready to crack open a few books in person.
My Project
These books will allow for a diversified learning curriculum for my students. They will act out plays, connect with a strong female African American writer and question the validity of the American Dream. The school currently has a very small amount of books to choose from for junior year. I have large class sizes and want to challenge And educate my students for the future. I am excited to dive into questions about race, class, and gender and believe these books are perfect vessels to present information during their junior year.
