My Students
Wow, what can I say about my students other than they are some of the most amazing children I've met in life. They are tenacious, brilliant, kind, helpful and loving. The inspire me in ways I would have never imagined; I am a better me because of them.
This school year, it is my goal to provide them with thoughtful care packages.
The care package will be filled with inspirational journals, books, bookmarks, pencils, pens and t-shirts. This year, it is my personal mission to get students comfortable with using their mind and voice through creative writing. Often times, I have found students in crisis and trauma based situations internalize thoughts and that never ends positively.
How great would creative writing be as an alternative approach in Restorative Practice?
My Project
Social Emotional Learning is key in the growth of a child's life. These buttons, pens and pencils with inspirational sayings will aid in self-esteem, student and class engagement. It is my belief that students perform well when they feel well.
Conversation Corner is my restorative approach to Detention.
Restorative Practices promote conversation over consequence. It is my goal when students are sent to my office to reflect on their actions that they are handed a thought-provoking quote, pen, pencil, and/or journal to prompt them to start the change in their behavior.
Reflections are essential to the growth process of children. Remember, students are counting on you to believe in them.
