This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are hardworking and selfless. They do all they can to put their best foot forward as they engage in activities to become lifelong learners. With students that are resourceful and eager to learn, I am able to provide a classroom culture that supports their needs. As middle school students, they are often opinionated and eager to share their beliefs which provides wonderful classroom discussions and often room for debate. I appreciate the personalities, strengths and hopes that my students bring to our classroom environment.
My Project
In middle school, and as kids get older it can be a challenge, getting them to read and interested in a new book. I have designed a Utopian/ Dystopian novel unit that will help teach them the necessary standards, but keep them intrigued as well. They will read The Giver by Lois Lowry, alongside several short stories by Ray Bradbury. They will compare and contrast the stories to help build their comprehension and literacy skills. This project will benefit the ENTIRE sixth grade at J.M. Middle School. By simply donating you are giving an ENTIRE grade level a new learning opportunity.
