Help me give my students UNICEF KidPower Bands to engage in our annual Global Service Learning Project. We are Title I and need 32 bands for students, 2 for adult class staff, plus extras for lost bands.
My adolescent students are very diverse, tech-savvy, and humorous. They are curious, like to be involved, and are always interested in helping our school and the community. Ready for any challenge, they will work as a team to reach their objective. They also enjoy competition, but always encourage each other, no matter what team they end up on!
These students will be the high school class of 2025, and they are already looking forward to future technological innovations and inventing them!
My Project
The UNICEF KidPower program is an amazing resource that exposes students to global issues, health information, and social consciousness. By using our KidPower Bands all day, and every time we exercise or have P.E., we earn more and more "KidPower Points." Those points "unlock" life-saving packets of food-replacement for severely malnourished children in third-world nations.
By engaging with the program, students learn to appreciate their own blessings in life, become more and more physically active to maintain their good health, and work hard towards a goal of saving real lives.
I have used this program with the last 3 years of students, and 100% of them report enjoying the experience, learning more about other countries, and feeling positive for making a real difference in the lives of other children.
Our school is Title I and cannot purchase PowerBands for our students. I also cannot ask their low-income families to purchase them. Without your support, my class will miss out on this unique and empowering service-learning experience. Thank you for your consideration!
