My Students

I love my students because they are so diverse and different but all mesh so well. My students come from so many different backgrounds: from Haiti, Cuba, Mexico, to right here locally. They all have such different upbringings, but have formed compassion from one another through our daily classroom interactions. We are a family and we have had many generations of Cheetahs come and go to do wonderful things in our community and abroad. Our magnet program being an International Studies focus helps us display our cultural customs and helps the children travel to places they may never get to visit. We also have many military families that we serve and watch come and go to many places worldwide. They all hold a special place in our school and community and it's what makes us the melting pot of Duval County.

My Project

These reading materials will help my students have a better variety of "just right" books on their level. They often need more books on their level after many of our classroom books have been worn and lost. The hands-on maps will help my students know where the 50 states are located and will help them learn their state capitals. My students have one globe and one wall map that we share now, so this will help them by building floor puzzles and matching capitals with state names. Thank you so much for considering my project.
