My Students

I have an awesome group of students in grades 3rd to 5th. My self contained special education classroom helps students learn how to appropriately communicate their emotions and control their impulsiveness. Students are placed in my classroom to learn the skills they need to rejoin their grade-level peers. In this small group setting, we learn traditional academics, as well as skills in social and emotional areas.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

Though my class is small, they come with complex social and emotional needs. It is my goal to inspire them to work hard, so they see that they are in control of themselves.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of success!

My Project

Our students will use the Chromebooks daily, in our classroom. The possibilities with Google are endless. We use many online reading and math programs to help our students understand the concepts taught or to enrich what they have already learned. We are also using My BrainPOP and starting to use Google Classroom more to individualize. All of these programs help my students further their learning in reading, language and mathematics.

Having access to more Chromebooks will provide my students with an opportunity to learn the skills necessary to succeed in the 21st Century.

These Chromebooks will help me directly support small group learning and, at the same time, promote other students' independence as they use the Chromebook to access their online goals and curriculum. The majority of my students do not have access to educational technology after the bell rings. I want to make sure I give them the tools they need to be successful in the world!
