This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After witnessing several of my colleagues teach this book of poetry to English 2 students at SHHS, I am requesting my own class set of Jason Reynolds' 'A Long Way Down'. This novel has continually been a powerful stepping stone for students into poetry, and there is no reason why my students should not benefit as well.

Our students are learning how to express themselves in the English language and become better human beings while they're at it, and very few mediums allow that as powerfully as poetry.

Please support my students' continued academic and emotional growth by helping build this class set of poetry novels, as well as some graphic novels for students who need even more visual supports. Many of our students are from lower socio-economic families, some who haven't had any higher education, some who don't speak English, and I know how much they appreciate donors like you.
