My Students

After three very difficult years of dealing with a global pandemic, it is vital that students have social and emotional learning support in the classroom. Although my students are bright and capable young learners, they lack some of the coping skills needed to function effectively from time to time in the classroom.

My Project

The last three school years have been difficult for students and teachers! This project is aimed at providing my students with an engaging and meaningful area of the class to calm down and re-center their focus. The tools provided, will give students resources to recognize and name their emotions. In addition the resources in this project will provide students with engaging ways to practice mindfulness. Finally, this project provides students with opportunities to work with materials aimed and enriching them through STEAM. Mrs. Lawson's Calm Down Corner will provide every student with a way to learn effectively, even when they are struggling with big emotions.
