My Project

My students are fairly new to the country. Some of them have been here a year or two, and some of them have only been here a few days. I want to make them feel loved at school and comfortable learning all the skills they need to be successful. I don't want to intimidate them when they walk into our classroom. My goal is to have many choices for them to pick from, whether it's finding a book they can read or finding a math game they can play using their number sense. I want the students to gain independence and be successful learners.

The smiley face carpet is the perfect place for my students to sit and listen to stories and to do some activities on the floor.

The bean bag chairs add a special seat for students to read their books in during our reading time.

The colorful stools will really be encouraging to students to sit in around my teacher table.

My students need lots of reinforcement with letters and words. The alphabet letters will be a great resource for them. Also the making words card game with the wooden letters will be helpful.

The I have who has math game is a fun way to practice number sense.

With this being my first year teaching 4th grade newcomer students I would like to laminate some of the materials so that I can use them next year too.
