As we wrap up this school year and start planning for the next, I can look at my roster and I see that nearly HALF of my students are three and will return next year for their second year of preschool. We have worked so hard this year to build a foundation for learning this year, and want to take it a step farther next year. Many of the items in my cart are alphabet focused - and are so needed for kiddos to have hands on experiences with their learning. These materials will help my preschoolers become more familiar with the letters and the sounds they make, so reading will be easily attained for them. I would love to have my students begin working on early reading in preschool, so when they get to kindergarten they are truly ready for that task.
Additionally, velcro, laminating pouches and poster strips are always great for me to have on hand.
The laminating pouches keep resources sturdy so they can be used over and over again. Velcro dots are useful for nametags, which are lost & replaced many times throughout the year. Poster strips are helpful when hanging student work. Our building is 5 years old, and we use these strips to take care of the paint.
I would like the flower pots to use as a project for the end of the year, and the building bricks to enhance a study we do on Buildings. We actually reference blueprints in our study, and I show my class what they really look like. They just don't have the opportunity to build from them. Having this resource will give them that chance.
