Mrs. G.'s Remote Teaching Project

Help me give my students the virtual teacher they need. I need to get out of the hallway with wifi, they need to hear me, I would like to get creative with mask decorating, and treats!

My Students

I teach English and World History to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. My DonorsChoose project is geared toward my need to teach all of my students remotely. My district has chosen to give students the option to attend school in a traditional manner or have teachers deliver content in a virtual manner. Around 15% of our students have chosen the on line option. I will teach about 120 students in school and approximately 25 from my home after traditional school hours.

My students would attest to the fact that I use all methods possible to keep them engaged and curious while they receive online curriculum.

It has been a difficult transition for students because they must keep their masks on all day. My kids have been troopers, though. I have hardly had issues.

My Project

My building is concrete block, and I have the last room in the entire building. The wifi strength in my classroom is extremely weak. If I could get a range extender, I would not have to go out in the hallway to conduct zoom meetings. I could stay in my classroom. I also could use my laptop virtually instead of being connected to the internet with a hard wire.

My students deserve a teacher who has effective WiFi and is not sitting on the floor.

I am also seeking disposable masks and treats. I would like to have a lesson wherein students decorate masks connecting the decoration to World History. I would need disposable masks and markers.

In addition, I would like a microphone system so my students can hear my voice behind my mask. Right now, I have to wear a mask and a shield. Hearing me is a chore in and of itself.

Finally, if I would love treats to reward students who adhere to the rules and miss no assignments, even when we traverse from remote to face to face.
