Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from the inner city and are mostly English language learners from low-income homes. They are hard-working, respectful, self-motivated young people who are eager to learn. Our school is a pilot school where students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members work together to create the best learning environment possible.
The school's philosophy focuses on social justice and leadership skills with an emphasis on critical thinking, 21st-century skills, and college.
We are constantly trying to find ways to be creative with the resources we are given.
My Project
Students need to have books in their hands more than ever right now. By helping fund this project, you are helping to motivate children to read. All the books in this project were chosen by my students. Choice is a crucial part of motivating students to read. It's the joyful part.
We must give students the freedom to look at different genres and authors and allow them to decide what they want to read.
This will empower them as readers and give them the tools necessary to be lifelong readers.
