Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Room 103 is full of creative minds! Our class consists of 14 girls and 16 boys. We have students of various ethic backgrounds including Mexican, Native American, African American, and Asian decent. Meeting the learning needs of my various students is often times the most difficult challenge I face as a fourth grade teacher. I have 4 students who have medical 504 plans, 3 students with individual education plans, 3 English language learners and 1 students who pushes into our class from the Special Day class in the mornings and afternoons. Although the recent fires in Northern California did not affect the students of Brooks Elementary School as much as some of the other local schools, unfortunately 3 of my students lost their homes. It was definitely a trying and stressful time for Sonoma County.

Our School, Brooks Elementary School, is a 2006 and 2010 California Distinguished School.

It is one of seven school sites in the district, serving 460 4th and 5th graders. Unlike many other schools, Brooks is uniquely a 4th and 5th grade campus. Students attend other school sites for Kindergarten to first grade, second to third, sixth to eighth, and high school.

My Project

Six Chromebooks would be a huge addition to our classroom! By pairing these Chromebooks with the ones my class currently uses, I will be able to create a station that students can use during small group instruction.

My hope and vision for these Chromebooks is that a group of six students could use them as a station for math, reading, or writing.

I envision my students working on ST Math or Lexia for a set amount of time, allowing me to focus on another small group of students and their specific learning needs. These Chromebooks would be extremely beneficial for my fourth graders!
