Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in a financially challenged neighborhood. I teach 5th grade students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a substantially separate classroom. My students have a passion for learning and truly enjoy being in school every day.

My students are provided with modified curriculum that meets their individual needs.

Work is completed in small groups, 1:1 and/or 1:2 ratio. Moreover, throughout the school week students work on communication, social skills and coping strategies to help increase functional communication and decrease maladaptive behaviors

My Project

These under-the-desk pedal exercises will help my students in many ways! Cycling improves cardiovascular development and mental well-being, decreases stress levels, and increases focus.

The motion of pedaling keeps the minds of students more focused on learning!

Cycling helps put the mind and the body back in balance, regulating mood and behavior. These under-the-desk pedal exercises allow students to move their bodies in a non-distracting way. When kids are moving they learn and retain information. They will feel a sense of pride and accomplishment, boosting their confidence and their love for learning!
