The students have loved the new books. They have learned some new vocabulary words and how to relate the books to plot diagram or to the story elements that they are learning in ELA class. The students love to read and these new books have helped them to enjoy reading even more. \r\n\r\nThe classroom library is used for independent reading time which is 20 minutes every other day. When they are finished reading they write a paragraph based on characters, setting or what is happening in the story at that time. This allows me to know that they have read for the 20 minutes. The new books in our library have helped with our independent reading time. \r\n\r\nThe box sets of books and the series of books that we asked for have been a huge hit with the boys in the classroom. They have enjoyed reading them. All the students have been reading the new books and have taken turns reading a few of the books. It is nice to see when one finishes they will give the book to the next student in line to read it. It is nice to see them so interested in reading again. The vibrant colors of the crayons and markers have brought our drawings and projects to life, allowing our students to express themselves freely and boldly. We are in the process of using crayons and markers to bring our infographic examples to life! These infographics are a part of their research unit. The folders have provided a much-needed organizational tool, helping our students keep their work neat and tidy. I do my best to teach responsibility, and these folders are helping students keep their homework and classwork neat. \r\n\r\nWhen our students first saw the new materials, their eyes lit up with excitement. They eagerly began exploring the different colors and textures, eager to put them to use. The folders, in particular, were a hit, as they allowed our students to personalize their learning spaces.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our exploration of different topics such as argument and poems, we plan to use the crayons and markers to create illustrations for our writing assignments and to design our own storybooks. The folders will help us organize our research materials and keep track of our progress.
