Mrs. Conner from University Cy MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Do you remember what is was like to sit in class and take notes upon notes, without being able to interact with the chalkboard? My students have not yet had the chance to come up and interact with our whiteboard, which I believe will enhance their learning and peak their interest in Anatomy.
I teach in an urban public school in Missouri and we serve a diverse population, including several racial and ethnic groups, as well as socioeconomic classes.
Many of our students look at science as a hard and boring subject, but if it were more interactive and engaging, many students would change their view.
The projector is an essential piece in a series of things necessary to create our interactive whiteboard. We thought we had one through a different avenue, but as life goes, that avenue did not come through. There is a piece of equipment called MIMIO, which transforms regular whiteboards into SMARTBoards for less than half the cost of a SMARTBoard. Thanks to Donorschoose, we will be receiving a new whiteboard soon. With the ability to project images and lessons on the board, my Anatomy & Physiology Classes (as well as my Chemistry class) will be able to learn while experiencing the subject rather than just looking at notes on a board. The students will be able to come up to the board and draw on the images as well as answer questions right on the board. Everything we write can then be saved and printed for students who have learning disabilities that amount to difficulties taking notes and/or processing difficulties by reducing the amount of information they have to process at once.
Our school has limited funding for SMARTBoards, and the students have done exceptionally well in classes which have them.
I actually had a SMARTBoard in one of the rooms I used last year, but this year, I stopped traveling and got my own classroom (YAY!), but there isn't a SMARTBoard in it (NO YAY). Anatomy is very visual and in the absence of tangible specimens for dissecting, virtual dissection is our only option and dissection is SO important in learning Anatomy.
