My classroom is filled with an energetic group of 4-year-old children eager to start their school experience.
My wish is for them to actively explore learning and establish a love for learning.
Many times the odds seem to be stacked against them, but our staff is committed to removing any barriers that might keep our students and their families from achieving their dreams. We are committed to creating a welcoming place for our students and their families. Our students are eager to experience a rich school experience, and we are committed to providing that for them.
My Project
Young children need to move to learn. Research shows that large motor skills are imperative to building learning skills throughout all of childhood. It is important for young children to develop their individual motor skills and also build their team ability. When children have developed their large motor skills, they are more ready to learn the fine motor and attention skills needed for academic success.
Playing games together builds physical skills and social-emotional skills such as cooperation, team building, and working together to achieve group goals.
My students will play cooperative games with the large parachute; working together to accomplish movements such as keeping balls suspended in the air or raising it high enough to create a dome big enough for all! Individual balance and coordination will be built with the jump ropes and balance board. The playground balls and bean bags will provide a combination of both individual and team skills. With these new materials, our energetic students will learn how to cooperate while they build the motor skills that will help them become successful in school and beyond.
Participating in active learning helps students bodies and brains become ready to focus on academic skills. Children need to be able to control their bodies in space before they can function in a group setting in the classroom. These materials also promote relationship building and cooperative learning, which is a cornerstone of academic success.
