My Students

I teach a diverse group of energetic 5th graders in rural Kentucky. My students love to learn and really respond to hands-on activities. In Kentucky, 5th graders are state tested in more content areas than any other grade. My students have risen to the challenge year after year despite a lack of technology in our classrooms.

My students are an active group of typical fifth graders who struggle to sit still for the length of time that is required of them.

They are losing out on valuable instruction because they we do not have resources to allow them to move at their desks.

My Project

Inflatable movement cushions will allow my students to focus in class and throughout the day and not be distracted by their need to constantly move or by others around them who are moving nearby.

Fifth graders are not made to sit still for a long period of time!

With several hours of back-to-back instruction they are required to sit still and expected to pay attention for far too long. These items will allow them learn while also moving in their seat, all without distracting those around them.

Studies have proven that all school-aged children need movement to be effective in school, these cushions will allow them to move while not missing out on instruction that is also vital.
