I have a wonderful class full of diversity in every way. Our school is about 70% free and reduced lunch, we have several languages spoken in our classroom, including Spanish, Arabic, Marshallese, and Romanian.
In addition to cultural and socioeconomic diversity, the academic abilities and interests of my students vary greatly as well, leading to opportunities for us to learn a lot from each other, but also provides some challenges in meeting everyone's needs.
In addition to academics, our classroom focuses on integrity, grit, empathy, respect, citizenship/service, and being awesome! Please help fund my classroom project so that my students have more opportunities to be their best awesome!
My Project
Exercise and movement helps improve students' focus and memory. I purchased one seat to test out in my classroom and it has done wonders to improve the focus, attention, work production, and success overall for the students who share this. I'd like to provide this option for flexible seating for more students. I have seen how much it can help students with attention needs and it provides a little bit of necessary movement throughout the day without distracting others.
Please help bring flexible seating to my classroom and help improve student success!
Before using the wobble seat, one student would "dance" with his chair and would not only struggle to stay focused himself, but would distract others. Once he used the seat, his focus and work improved greatly, as did that of the students around him. This provides a safe support for students who are unable to get enough exercise before class to be successful in class.
