This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students attend an urban Title I middle school in Chattanooga that is brimming with brilliant students who face incredible obstacles to their success. These incredible students are full of success and motivation every day and work hard to grow as scholars. Unfortunately, almost all of my students have grown up in low-income settings and attended schools situated in concentrated poverty. As a result, almost every students lacks the basic literacy skills necessary for them to become professionally and personally successful in the workplace and broader society.

Nevertheless, they are an inspiring group who are readily energized by the challenges they face and strive for success.

They care deeply--about their future prospects, about their families and, about their community. They want to become successful in school and beyond. And with your help, they will be!

My Project

These standing desks would allow my students to read, write, and move - all at the same time! One of the biggest struggles that my students encounter during the school day is having to sit quietly throughout the day.

I truly believe that my students want to believe and giving the option of movement while they work would increase their learning time dramatically!

I know that my students will immediately feel the motivation to learn when they are given options to help them succeed! Please consider donating to my classroom and being apart of our success! Thank you for your consideration!
