This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you forgotten coming to school daily being afraid? Afraid because someone is taking your pencil, crayons, or snack, and because you are pushed around by a bully. You are scared or embarrassed to tell an adult. I would like to introduce a positive, safe environment conducive to learning.
I have ten boys and eleven girls in my classroom.
They come from poverty stricken neighborhoods. They come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. This offers a great challenge for myself as well as the students. It also offers a great opportunity for people to work together and learn about others and their way of life. They attend an inner city school that struggles to keep and maintain adequate equipment and supplies.
My Project
There are various subject areas that correlate with daily activities that can be accessed from the computer to make the activities come to life for the students. The computer will enhance the students' knowledge of life experiences. The computer will help students research and explore different parts of the world without actually going there.
The camcorder will allow the students to capture role playing and critique the appropriate and inappropriate behavior will working with bulling in the classroom.
The anti-bullying books will empower students with information on how to interact effectively with a bully.
It is important to empower our students with technical skills in the 21st century.
If they are given the knowledge to understand the world and the wisdom to change it, then the possibilities for the future are greater.
