Help me give my students chess sets to learn to play chess and enjoy the skills and camaraderie of the shared experience.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Melanie's classroom raised $162

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have used board games to teach many concepts in the classroom. The students enjoy learning reading concepts interacting with one another using a game. I would like to incorporate chess into their play to teach strategizing, and etiquette. These chess sets will be used to teach students the game of chess and instill the patience, etiquette and values of individual and team play. Chess teaches students how to plan out a strategy (not just react to a situation) and it also teaches that there are consequences for actions. Our chess instruction will emphasize these concepts and draw parallels to the lives of these students.
