Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income area I want to provide a space in their week that is safe, encouraging and interactive. Some of my students go home to a house that is empty until later that evening, resulting in a night filled with little interaction with other people except for the school day. In my classroom, interaction happens all day long; through conversations and working together in team environments.
My students are on the brink of going into middle school and now is the time for them to make a decision.
They will have to make the decision if education is truly important. My job as an educator is to make learning accessible in unique ways that makes them want to come back and learn. I cannot make this life-changing decision for them, but I can make the experience enjoyable and engaging. As an educator, I am here to change lives, and what better way than to encourage them to love what they learn!
My Project
We all have sat in a meeting that has gone on too long and we wish that we could get up and move or stop clicking our pen. Kids and adults struggle with this in similar ways. Allowing students to move and fidget will increase their learning and allow them to focus.
Every student has the ability to perform at their highest potential, but sometimes their focus can get in their way.
Having options to move around the classroom or to sit at a desk and fidgit will help students be more productive and less detracted. This all means that more learning can happen and allows every student to be able to succeed.
