Motion Detectors for Physics!

Help me give my students physics laboratory tools to use in the classroom when we return from distance learning.

My Students

I have students from a diverse set of backgrounds. They are both socio-economically diverse and well as ethnically diverse. When I think about my students, I think of a group of kids who are trying to prepare themselves for the challenges of going to college as well as dealing with the day-to-day challenges of the classroom, after school activities, and work outside of school.

What I love about my students is their drive and determination.

In the classroom, they persevere in the face of challenges. They show grit when faced with the information they do not fully understand. They work through problems until they get the answers sorted out.

My Project

When we return from distance learning, Vernier motion sensors will help students conduct physics labs. Kinematics is the topic in physics regarding motion, and it takes up several weeks of the academic year. During that time, these motion sensors can be used in a variety of kinematics labs.

These detectors are very useful and conducive to student learning as they directly interface with students' school-issued Chromebooks.

This, in turn, gives the students the ability to import digitized data into their Chromebooks and manipulate the given data with a spreadsheet.
