In chemistry and physics, there is a fair amount of math involved. Without a calculator, students get caught up in the weeds of multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting numbers, when I would rather they focus on how to apply equations for a particular problem set. Having a class set of calculators would help students focus more on how to use equations in both chemistry and physics. To give an example of how I would use a class set of calculators, imagine that I gave a test. Now imagine that many students did not have calculators for the test. I would pull out my class set of calculators and distribute them as needed.
