This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have an incredible classroom community with amazing students and families. To celebrate Mother's Day in a meaningful way, we've come up with a special project that ties into economics, science, and research.

We plan to create a “Mother’s Day Plant Shop” to provide our students with a hands-on experience by offering a variety of succulent plants.

The twist is that students will 'shop' for these plants using 'class bucks' they've earned throughout the months leading up to Mother’s Day. They'll use this “currency” to purchase succulents, soil, flower pots, and rocks, allowing them to craft a beautiful gift for their mothers.

Through this engaging project, our first graders not only create meaningful gifts for their mothers but also benefit by gaining practical insights into economics, fostering their love for science, and cultivating valuable research skills. The project encapsulates both a celebration of love and a rich learning experience for our enthusiastic students.
