Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 1st grade in a Title 1 school. This is my 13th year teaching here. My school has 80% of it's population living in poverty. We have 16 languages spoken by our families.

My class is 50% English Language Learners.

Their parents are not able to help them. I work with my students after school and during our off track time, to give them extra support. Three of my students are in foster care. They are sweet and hard working.

My Project

With the budget cuts and supply order freezes, my students will be running out of pencils, crayons, and glue sticks. With these supplies my students will have sufficient materials to continue learning. I will have enough pencils sharpened so their learning process will not be stopped. They will not have to borrow a crayon or share glue sticks when we are working on our class work.

Your help will make it possible for my first graders to work without stopping.

They will be successful and confident when they have the supplies they need to learn. Their efforts will not be stopped because they need basic school materials.
