Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students all come to school with a unique set of needs and unique home lives. Beginning the morning with an activity that just lets them be them and lowers any anxiety they may have started the day with allows for a reset and sets them of for learning success.

Here are a few goals for mindful mornings using blocks and building materials to start the classroom day:

1. Cultivate Focus and Concentration:

Goal: Through quiet block play, students will practice focusing their attention on the present moment and the task at hand, preparing them for focused learning throughout the day.

2. Foster Emotional Regulation:

Goal: Building with blocks allows students a calming and engaging activity to express emotions, manage stress, and arrive at school feeling ready to learn.

3. Encourage Creativity and Problem-Solving:

Goal: Mindful exploration with blocks fosters creativity as students experiment with different shapes and configurations. It also allows them to solve problems encountered during their building process.

4. Promote Collaboration and Communication:

Goal: As students build together or share their creations, they practice communication and collaboration skills in a peaceful and mindful setting.
