Once the new novels started to be delivered, they kept asking which book was delivered. \r\nAs the novel sets were delivered, I would show them the covers and offer a summary of the novel to whet their appetites on the novels to come. Many would ask if we are going to start reading the new novels right away even though we are in the middle of another novel. When the boxes arrived, I explained what they were and what they meant to their noses for the year, and they cheered at the possibility of blowing noses in peace this year. They reminisced about how rough the facial tissue was in the past and how they would usually forego blowing their noses so as not to use the rough paper. One student even said they would just use their sweater sleeve. \r\nThe appreciation and relaxed atmosphere in the class were palpable.
