This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When I say these menus have been a game changer....I mean it! In the morning when students come in they grab a morning menu that is already loaded with 4 practice sheets for math, writing, reading or whatever they need practice with. They get a white board marker and head to their desk to practice. These menus provide choice to the students which they love. The menus provide 4 practice sheets so early finishers have more to do...but...this is where the magic happens. If they finish the menu and correct any errors they get a shout out for stuffing their brain full of morning practice "feeding your brain". Each page in the menu represent one of 4 food groups. So we want a healthy balanced brain and that means practice. Students have gone from barely finishing 1 morning worksheet to completing a menu of 4! They love getting to write on the menus and the menus work better with dry erase markers than sheet protectors or dry erase pockets.

The menus are a huge time saver.

We change out the sheets with each unit in Math and ELA so they are practicing skills being taught or already taught. We can customize each students menu with practice to target individual needs. This also means that we are only printing 4 sheets for each student per unit instead of 30 and we use this as an example of reducing on Earth Day. These menus cut way down on paper, printing and prep work. I really cant say enough about the benefits of these. Oh and did I mention, easy to clean, durable and no more papers slipping out or stained sheet protectors. These menus are like the cadillac to sheet protectos! Please help us provide every kindergartener with a powerful morning menu.
