Morning Meeting Calendar & Daily Math Activities

My Students

All students are diverse and energetic 5 and 6-year-olds in a southern Arizona Title I STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) school.

Ninety-nine percent of our students qualify to receive free lunch.

Most are English Language Learners, including refugees from Africa, Asia, Mexico, and the Middle East. All are coming from low-income households. School is often the first place my students are exposed to literacy, math, and STEAM activities in English. They come from homes where education is often not a priority, making the initial readiness gap wider. They strive to do their best against the odds and are always excited to come to school and learn.

My Project

The Calendar Math Activity program is a comprehensive daily activity focusing on counting, number sense, place value, ten frames, question of the day and problem solving.

It contains all the concepts covered in my kindergarten curriculum, and I know my students will be over-the-moon excited to be a leader and help each morning.

Best of all, the Calendar Math Activity program will strengthen my students' mental math skills, foster conversations between classmates while reinforcing concepts and build students' academic confidence in class!

I cannot wait to have all these comprehensive skills in one place and nicely organized!
