My classroom is full of vibrant, excited learners ready for a new challenge each day! Our building is an intermediate school where all of the district's elementary schools come together for the first time in 5th grade, and we develop a strong classroom community to get to know and support one another.
Our classroom is made up of students with varying social, emotional, and academic needs.
We work to learn each day not only the curriculum but how to love each other well.
My Project
We have a 20 minute drop-off time where students are filing in from their cars and buses. Typically, this time is spent getting organized for their day, greeting their peers, and waiting for the day to officially start. These puzzles, Legos, and games will be used during this 20 minute time to get kids up and moving before we start our core curriculum time.
The goals of these materials are to help students:
- develop new friendships
- engage with peers in problem-solving
- stick with tasks that are challenging for multiple days
- wake up :)
The use of Legos and puzzle pieces will be a positive way for my students to use their energy to create something, and the puzzle mats and storage containers will make it possible for them to save their work day after day.
