Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a beautiful multicultural mix of students from various economic backgrounds, however most of our student are disadvantaged, with our school having the highest percentage of free and reduced lunch in our district. Despite economic challenges, our students come to school everyday with a positive attitude, eager to learn. They work towards personal goals and ambitions in life. Our school strives to reach all students and provide them with endless opportunities for success within a supportive school environment.
My Project
My students need an additional iPad and Chromebook for our classroom. In 5th grade, the technology we use is essential and used on a daily basis. Everyday my students are accessing educational websites such as Raz-Kids, Dreambox, and Xtramath, in addition to typing reports and conducting research. Our classroom has a limited amount of devices, therefore, giving each student exposure to technology on a daily basis becomes a challenge.
Many students do not have access to technology at home, thus the only opportunity for them to use a computer or the internet is at school.
The addition of an iPad and Chromebook would enhance my students' everyday learning experiences and enrich their academic growth.
