This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with students who come from various backgrounds, many of whom are English Language Learners from low-income families who have the drive to learn. These students are friendly and love to be engaged and immersed in the English language and our school culture.
Many of my students have limited access to opportunities due to family structure and responsibilities.
Many of them are beginning a new life in this country and deal with isolation, transition, and adjustment to the expectations of a new culture and school system.
My Project
We are only a week away from the start of the new academic year. However, back-to-school plans have not been finalized yet. Regardless of our plan (remote or hybrid), I would love to give more reading options to my students and I want more students to read.
I will use these books for independent reading with students who attend school in person and the ones who opt out to continue their education remotely.
I will deliver the books to students' home periodically. The books include a good collection of diverse authors, subjects and styles.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
