Our students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.
The majority of our students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.
Minneapolis Public Schools has one of the highest achievement gaps in the country, which was not the case over 2 decades ago. Our students deserve to achieve greatness.
MY PURPOSE is to foster a loving, exploratory, imaginative experience, so that our students can foster their inner true selves! These spirited children are the future of our world!
My Project
Our students are incredibly curious and creative K-5th graders. I see them engaged in critical thinking and problem solving. By having access to engineering-focused activities like puzzles, robots and board games, our students will develop their creativity and critical thinking skills. These activities will provide focus and purpose during our Morning Work time and indoor recess (Minnesota winter is here!) With these activities, we will continue to develop our creative brains and build stronger classroom communities. We are constructing a mobile cart holding robots so that all students can have access to them!
My students have so much passion for learning and for creating; we need more opportunities to expand our perspectives and our creativity.
This project will be just the ticket; it includes a Robobloq Coding Robot with Puzzle Cards for Kids, and the Dot and Dash Robot Wonder Pack for Kids to Learn Block-Based Coding. These materials will help our students become stronger engineers!
