My class is a diverse group of active kindergarteners from surrounding urban and suburban communities. 61% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch. Our magnet school is based on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, allowing students to learn based on their individual learning styles and strengths.
My students learn best when they are actively engaged in fun, play-based activities, and projects.
Playing with their peers allows my students to openly share their ideas with each other and builds their language and social-emotional skills.
My Project
Play is an important part of a young child's development. Children learn to navigate their world through play and social interactions with peers. The materials in my project will allow my students the opportunity to learn through hands-on building, experimenting and play.
Research shows us that children learn best when their whole bodies are actively involved in the learning process.
The marble run, gears, ramps, and magnetic building tiles and cars will directly enhance our Science unit for Push and Pull. The Math games will allow my students to engage their bodies and minds in their learning while interacting with their peers.
