My Students

Our school is an urban magnet school that follows the philosophy of Reggio-Emilia throughout all grades and all classes.

Our students are curious explorers who ask lots of questions as they learn.

They come from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds throughout the city of Indianapolis.

I have incorporated the philosophy of Orff-Schulwerk in my classroom as well. Orff-Schulwerk and Reggio-Emilia both encourage child exploration and discovery - something my students have come to expect in their learning.

My Project

We currently have one alto metallophone in our classroom and it is one of the first ones claimed when students select barred instruments for an activity. As my students grow and play more music it would be great to have two alto metallophone to play together and add the metallic timbre to our room.

The alto metallophone adds a unique sound to our classroom and my students want more of it!

I hope that by adding another to our instrumentarium that more students get the opportunity to try the unique timbre of this instrument and it will enhance our performances.
