Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are team teachers with approximately 76 students in a 5th-grade class. Our school is a Title I school. Many of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches and often receive snack packs on Fridays just to sustain them on the weekends. We service 19 different apartment complexes, several of which are Section 8 government housing.

Even with these challenges, our students come to school with a zest for learning.

They are motivated learners who generally have almost perfect attendance. Those light bulb moments are what make teaching so fulfilling.

My Project

I am hoping to mix up my math stations by getting more game stations for hands-on learning. I noticed throughout the years that kids are more into tech than board games and they have lost that socialization skill. But I need to equip my class with more games.

With the deficits due to COVID, I need to take a step back and reteach some of my students.

What better way than thru games? I am requesting The Allowance Game, Math Pop It, The Math Star Word game as well as coins and playing cards. All of these items will make math stations more fun.
