My Students

My students live in a small, rural, farming community. I have been their librarian since fall 2018 and we have had so much fun reading stories together. The students are creative and curious. I would like to provide more Maker Space and STEAM opportunities within the school. These sorts of learning experiences can open whole new worlds of ideas for my students. They can learn through hands-on interactive challenges and grow as learners and as team members by working together.

My Project

LEGO bricks are open-ended toys that every child enjoys. They can be used in free time, and they can be used to complete specific challenges, learn fractions, and learn about engineering and building techniques. They will be a great addition to the school library.

I would like to install a LEGO wall in the library to challenge students to think about building in a new way.

The adhesive brick plates will be glued onto a stand in the library that kids will be able to use during library time. Bins of LEGO bricks can be used in the library or signed out by teachers for classroom use. The LEGO books will give students ideas for things to create at school and at home.
