More Equipment, Less Waiting!

Help me give my students more digital media equipment, like a camera, which is needed for their hands on application practice, for their portfolio creations to be industry ready, in fields such as graphic design, photography, audio, video, and game.

My Students

The students who come to my Digital Media program, here at CTEC, are passionate about the industry and looking to become college and career ready. They make a sacrifice in their schedule to come to my class, either in an AM program or a PM program, for a full school year as a junior or senior. They understand the rigor of the course and are excited to be able to earn college credit, earn certifications, as well as build their portfolios that demonstrate a wide variety of careers in the digital media industry.

Part of the draw to the program is the equipment and software, mirroring the current technology that is being used, the job force and its accessibility to them as high school students in our digital media lab.

With technology constantly updating, it is expensive to be able to keep up with in a school environment. Part of the struggles that students in my program face, are the tools needed for their studies, and the projects are only here in my classroom. When we only have one or two quantities of an item, it causes kids to have wait longer than they should if we had more quantities.

My Project

Larger quantities of equipment in the lab will allow for my students to complete more work while they are in the classroom with less worrying about finding resources outside of class. With COVID 19, attendance has been a concern with students being ill or having virtual learning mixed in, so having more microphones and another digital camera will really help the students and groups function at a more efficient level in class. Part of digital media is game design, and we focus a lot on soft skills involving their teamwork, collaboration, and communication. The additional switch controllers will allow for more students to participate in the studies we do for game theory and teamwork practice, resulting in less class time being used for turns, so that every child can participate.
