Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth grade class is comprised of 31 amazing and diverse students. We are located in Hawthorne, California, and are surrounded by amazing industries. My students are inspired by engineers, entertainers, and skill workers among other careers. This is all evident in my classroom as I see my students flourish creatively.
In my classroom we truly are scientists, actors, readers, engineers, and most importantly humanitarians.
Together we strive to make the world a happier place for everyone! Working every day to contribute our individuality and creativity to the tasks and assignments we tackle every day.
My Project
Some of the important skills we must teach our students are those that pertain to research. While most of our research can now be done through the internet, learning how to use a book to find the answers that you look for is a skill that cannot be forgotten or lost. Using these books I aim to begin to teach these important skills while simultaneously discussing important events and people in our history.
Through these books my students will be able to do way more than just a biography report!
They will learn about important people who broke barriers and set the stage for what was to come. They will learn about those who valued great citizenship skills as well as leadership chills because of what can be done with that. They will learn about the importance of kindness and fighting for what’s right. Most importantly, they will learn that there are more ways to find the answers to your questions, than simply typing it into google.
